About our company.
Our primary goal is to help our fellow New Mexicans raise up to five to ten times more money through charitable vehicle donations. Our family is dedicated to community service, so we have combined our passion for our neighbors with our love for cars. It’s as simple as that.
Why choose us?
There are all sorts of places to donate a car, so why choose us? One Community Auto takes pride in helping the Land of Enchantment be a great place to live. By partnering with local organizations, we are helping to empower groups that are changing the lives of New Mexicans for the better. Not only are we saving many donated cars from the scrap heap, but we’re providing more revenue for the missions of these groups.
We’re a nationally recognized organization.
In 2017, One Community Auto was chosen as Grand Champion in the American Small Business Championship competition from the Small Business Administration’s SCORE Mentors program. We were incredibly honored to win this award and bring it home to New Mexico.
We’re locally owned by a veteran.
Gary Peterson is a native New Mexican and a proud military veteran. He founded One Community Auto in 2013 after spending 22 years in the United States Air Force working in logistics and transportation. He knew he had found his calling after helping the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center fix up an old Camaro and then sell it for a significant profit. Gary took the old rundown car and generated $4,000 for the charity. He’s been helping donors and non-profits do the same thing ever since.
Gary has served in several local community organizations in New Mexico, including the following:
-
Member, New Mexico Veterans Business Association
-
Member, New Mexico Independent Automobile Dealers Association
-
Board Member, Albuquerque LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce
